TNC24 will be held in Rennes, France. Capital of Brittany, Rennes has a thriving digital industry and is a true hotspot for tech enthusiasts. With its vibrant student scene, a rich cultural calendar and a diverse heritage, Rennes is only 90 minutes by train from Paris and offers a unique perspective on French art, architecture, and gastronomy. You will be surprised by how the city brings people together by merging its historic heritage with its bustling modern urban culture.

The event will be hosted by RENATER, the French National Telecommunications Network for Technology, Education and Research.

Half timbered houses

Rennes boasts 370 charming half-timbered houses, a distinctive feature of Brittany's heritage. Explore these unique structures in the historic centre or via guided tours offered by the Tourist Office.

Marché des Lices

In Brittany, we love quality produce, grown with love and not too far from home. The Bretons are also great travellers, with a strong taste for spices... On Saturdays at the Marché des Lices, you can taste them on the spot or take them away as a souvenir.

Thabor’s Park

The Parc du Thabor, or "Prince of Gardens", is one of France's most beautiful "prestige gardens”. Covering over 10 hectares, it rests on a 56-meter hill, reminiscent of Mount Thabor in the Bible. Initially, this garden belonged to Benedictine monks of Saint-Melaine Abbey, which borders the entrance. In the 1700s, the park partially welcomed the public, but with restrictions for men.

Drinker's Alley

Rue Saint-Michel, or Rue de la Soif (Drinker’s Alley): beautiful by day, vibrant by night. Despite its wayward reputation, this small cobbled street lined with half-timbered houses has become emblematic of the Breton capital’s festive spirit.

Parlement de Bretagne

A major work of 17th-century architecture, the Parlement de Bretagne is now one of the few places in France where the law and the tourist trade coexist. A monument that almost disappeared after a tragic fire in 1994. Magnificently restored, it is open to visitors all year round.

Saint-Michel Mount

From Rennes, the majestic Mont Saint-Michel is an unmissable tourist destination, just about an hour's drive away. This rocky island houses a spectacular medieval abbey, surrounded by ever-shifting sands with the changing tides. Saint Malo

Saint-Malo, a mere hour's drive from Rennes, beckons as a captivating tourist destination. This coastal gem boasts historic ramparts, a charming old town, and stunning beaches. Explore cobbled streets, indulge in fresh seafood, and embrace the sea breeze. Saint-Malo's medieval charm and maritime history make it an ideal day trip or a longer, leisurely escape from Rennes.

THE VENUE

TNC24’s venue is Le Couvent des Jacobins, a 14th former convent located in the heart of the historic centre of Rennes. The convent’s church is dedicated to the worship of Our Lady of Good News and used to be an important place of pilgrimage. It was then assigned to the French Army during the Revolution in 1793.

Today, the convent’s historic premises belong to the city of Rennes and make an impressive location for hosting conferences and events. The Grand Auditorium can accommodate up to 1,200 people.

This year we have partnered with GL Events, a local professional conference organiser, who will handle all hotel bookings for TNC24.

They have developed a platform that allows TNC24 participants to explore available hotels near the Couvent des Jacobins and in the heart of Rennes. The custom link below will redirect you to the hotel online booking systems.

Prices displayed have been pre-negotiated for TNC24 participants. Cancellation and refund policies are specific to the hotels and displayed on the booking system. All prices include 10% VAT and city tax. City tax rate varies from one hotel category to another.

No fee will be charged if the cancellation for the individual reservation (maximum 1 person) will be done at least 30 days prior to the day of arrival at 14h00.
If the cancellation for the individual reservation (maximum 1 persons) will be done at least 20 days prior to the day of arrival will be charged 30 % of the total amount.
If the cancellation for the individual reservation (maximum 1 persons) will be done at least 10 days prior to the day of arrival will be charged 50 % of the total amount.

In cases of No Show, the full amount of the accommodation will be charged .

Travelling to Rennes

BY TRAIN

There are several high-speed trains running daily between Rennes and Paris Montparnasse station: Trains Paris – Rennes

Rennes is also 1 hour by plane from Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport, however, you can also easily fly to Paris and then take the train to Rennes (90 minutes)

Take the metro line A, direction JF Kennedy and get off at Sainte-Anne station (5-min journey) Take metro line B, direction Cesson-Viasilva and get off at Sainte-Anne station (5-min journey)

Depending on where you will need to be, you can also walk from the train station to the city centre.

Rennes Airport to city centre

BY BUS

The C6 bus takes you to the city centre (République bus stop) in around 20 minutes, every day from Monday to Sunday. The bus departs every 10 to 20 minutes.

BY TAXI

The journey from the airport to Rennes city centre takes around 20 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs around €18 (daytime) to €20 (night-time) one way. These prices are given as a guide.

The taxis at Rennes Bretagne airport, located in front of the arrivals hall, have signed up to a quality charter and are committed to providing the best possible service.

City centre to Couvent des Jacobins

The venue is very centrally located, in the old town of Rennes. It is very easy to walk to the venue from wherever you are in the city centre.

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The Jacobins convent is right next to the Saint Anne stop, served by metro lines A and B.

From the city centre to the Couvent des Jacobins: You can take metro line A from the République stop in the direction of J.F KENNEDY to the Saint Anne stop. From there, it is only 160 m walking distance to the venue.

VISA

France is a member of the European Union and is in the Schengen area.

All travellers, except those of visa-exempt nationality, must apply for a corresponding visa at their local French embassy or consulate well before the start of the conference. Participants with a valid residence permit or valid long-term visa issued by another Schengen Member State should check the validity of their visa to avoid any problems.

Participants requiring supporting documentation in order to apply for a visa, can request this with the organisation. Please be aware that a letter of invitation does not imply any financial support.

Registration, including payment, to the conference is necessary prior to requesting a letter of invitation. TBC: In the event that the visa is refused, TNC24 will refund the registration fee only on receipt of the official refusal document from the embassy/consulate, and only if the visa application was submitted to the embassy on time and with all the required documents.

Please bear in mind that applying for a visa can take time and varies according to nationality and time of year.
